Butter Bean Dior is an organically grown, fine and very thin butter bean variety. It produces a prolific amount of deliciously flavoured, straight and beautiful yellow French Beans. The beans grow up to 13 - 14 cm long and 8 - 9 mm wide. The plants don't grow very high, so these beans are easy to pick. The beans grow on the outside of the plants and are very easy to spot because they've a yellow colour against the green leaves. Butter Bean Dior is resistant against Bean Common Mosaic virus, Halo Blight disease and Anthracnose. This variety is also known as French Bean and String Bean.
Use Dior in soups, pastasauces, stews, stir-fries, mashed potato stews and shortly cooked in salads and as a vegetable. Give this low growing French Bean a sturdy support and a very sunny spot in your garden. Non hardy annual. Height: 40 - 60 cm.

Sow indoors for an early harvest from April on, about 6 weeks before the last nightfrosts. Sow the seeds in individual pots about 3 - 4 deep and cover the seeds well with potting soil. Because beans are dark germinators. Keep the seeds moist and warm. Make sure the temperature is 18 - 22 °C. Don't let the temperature drop during the night. You can put the seedlings outdoors from the middle of May, when there's no longer any danger of nightfrosts. Keep about 20 - 30 cm between the plants. Protect the seedlings against snails, slugs and other vermin.
Sow outdoors from the middle of May, when there's no longer any danger of nightfrosts on a sunny, warm spot in well drained soil. Cover the seeds with a layer of soil (about 3 - 4 cm). Beans don't tolerate cold soil. Make sure the soil is warmed up. Give the plants a sturdy support. Give the plants extra fertilizer when they are flowering. Beans hate cold soil. Protect the seedlings against snails, slugs and other vermin. Pick the beans often to ensure the growth of new beans.
