French Bean Neckargold is Neckargold is a cane French bean. This means that it's a high species. It's an organically grown, deliciously tasting, butter-yellow green bean variety. It is also called bacon bean. The thin, yellow and tender pods can be up to 25 cm long. Give these beans a firm support by using mesh or bamboo sticks. You can also have them climb along a rope. Harvest the pods from July to September at least twice a week to promote growth. This species gives the most yield when it is grown in the greenhouse.
Neckargold can be cooked as separate vegetables, in soups, in stews, wok dishes, Indonesian dishes (Sambal goreng Boontjes) and in pasta sauces and other Italian dishes. Shortly cooked, they taste great in salads. They can be stored well in the freezer or in the fridge for a few days. Non hardy annual. Height: 200 - 250 cm.

Sow indoors for an early harvest from April on. Sow in individual pots about 3-4 cm deep and cover the seeds with a thick layer of soil . This variety is a dark germinator. Keep the seeds warm and moist. Don't let the temperature drop during the night. Transplant the seedlings on a sunny sheltered plot with free draining soil, in May when there's no longer any danger of night frosts. Keep approx. 20 - 30 cm apart. Protect the seedlings against snails, slugs and other pests.
