Aster Rainbow mix consists of a mixture of different single flowered asters in different colours lilac, white and red. The flowers have a contrasting bright yellow eye. The flowers stand straight on long, dark green, sturdy stems and are surrounded by dark green leaves.
Very well suited for the use in the annual border, in the cottage garden, in the bees- and butterflies garden, as cutflower and to brighten up any dull space in the garden. These asters can also be grown in large flower pots and containers. Very long flowering, very colourful and happy flower that's a must have for any garden. Very well loved by bees, butterflies and other benificial insects. Deadhead often to prolong the flowering till the first frosts. Flowers from July - October. Non hardy annual. Height: 70 cm.

Sow indoors in trays filled with moist potting soil from march on. Sow shallow and thinly and cover the seeds with a thin layer of sieved soil. Because aster is a light germinato. Keep the temperature as even as possible between 18 - 20°C and don't let the temperature drop during the night. Keep moist, but not to wet to prevent the molding of the seeds. Transplant the seedlings, when they're large enough to handle, to seperate pots. Be very careful with the delicate rootsystem of the seedlings. Harden them of for approx. 10 - 14 days by putting them in the sun during the day from the first of may. Or put the seedlings outdoors in a coldframe. Put the seedlings outdoors on a very sunny plot with free draining soil from the middle of may, when there's no longer any risks of nightfrosts. Keep 25 - 30 cm apart.
Sow outdoors from april on, when there's no longer any risks of nightfrosts. Sow thinly and shallow and cover the seeds with a very thin layer of soil. Keep moist and weedfree. Give Your Asters a very sunny spot with free draining soil. Thin the seedlings to 25 - 30 cm apart, when they're large enough to handle. To prevent Fusarium You've to sow Your asters each year on a different plot. Give ample water and don't let the plants dry out. Deadhead regurlarly to make sure the flowers flower for a longer period. Till the first frosts.
