Shoo-fly plant is also called Nicandra and Black Lampoon. This is an important natural fighter of White Fly in, for example greenhouses. This plant and its flowers emit a particular for flies unpleasant odour that repels them. It is a member of the Nightshade family (Solanaceae) just like tomatoes, aubergine, potato, pepper and Black Nightshade. Shoo-fly plant is native to South America. It is an attractive flowering plant with bell-shaped lavender-coloured flowers with a white centre. The individual flowers
bloom for one day each, but by removing the spent flowers the flowering period can be extended. Note: every part of this plant is poisonous!
