Sow indoors in a warm room or propagator from March on. Soak the seeds 24 hours prior to sowing in tepid water to speed up and aid the germination. Use a tray filled with moist potting soil. Sow the seeds in holes approx. 1 - 1½ cm deep, but leave the seeds uncovered because morning glory is a light germinator. Keep warm and moist during the germination. Cover the trays with clingfilm or a lid to preserve the moisture.
Remove the lid or clingfilm when the seedlings emerge. Transplant the seedlings to seperate pots when they're approx. 8 cm in size. Be very carefull with their roots. Harden the seedlings of by putting them outdoors on a sunny and sheltered spot during the day from the beginning of May. Put the young plants outdoors in the soil on a sunny plot with well drained soil after this hardening of period. Keep about 30 cm apart. Give this fastgrowing climbing plant a very sturdy support.
Sow outdoors from the end of May, when there's no longer any danger of nightfrosts and the soil is starting to warm up. Sow the seeds in holes approx. 1 - 1½ cm deep, but leave the seeds uncovered because morning glory is a light germinator. Thin the seedlings, when they're approx. 10 cm in size to 15 - 20 cm apart. Give the young plants a very sturdy support. Protect against snails and slugs. Give the morning glory a very sunny plot and don't overwater and overfertilize them. This plant grows best in poor soil. This variety is an improved version of the wild morning glory and it doesn't spred and overgrows everything like it's wild cousin. Deadhead often to enjoy this abundant flowering climbing plant for a longer period. This non hardy annual dies back with the first frosts.
