French Bean Dubbele witte is an organically grown, very deliciously flavoured, tender string bean variety. This old Heirloom and very well-known variety produces a prolific amount of medium long, almost stringless, coarse pods. This bean has a very special delicious flavour and is very crisp and tender. Dubbele witte can be picked for a long time. It can't witstand to much wind and frost. Not suited for a late sowing. Use Dubbele witte in soups, sauces, pastasauces, stir-fries, stews, mashed potato stews, as vegetable, in Sambal Goreng Boontjes and in all other dishes with French beans. Height: 40 - 50 cm.

Sow indoors for an early harvest from April on. Sow in individual pots about 3-4 cm deep and cover the seeds with a thick layer of soil . This variety is a dark germinator. Keep the seeds warm and moist. Don't let the temperature drop during the night. Transplant the seedlings on a sunny sheltered plot with free draining soil, in May when there's no longer any danger of night frosts. Keep approx. 20 - 30 cm apart. Protect the seedlings against snails, slugs and other pests.

Beans hate cold soil and you need to ensure that the soil is warmed before planting or sowing. Support the plants with sturdy supports. Give the plants a good feed when they're flowering.
