Aubergine Little Finger is a delicious variety of aubergine. It has a delicious flavour and creamy flesh. These small, delicious tasting, purple baby aubergines are a must for everyone. It originates from Asia. The fruits are about 10 - 15 cm long.
Aubergine is a very versatile and healthy vegetable. Aubergine contains, among other things: vitamins B1, B2, B6, B11 and C. And the minerals: sodium, potassium, selenium, calcium, phosphorus, iron, magnesium and zinc. And lots of dietary fibre, low in fat and carbohydrates and gluten. You can boil, fry, roast, cook in the oven, stir-fry, barbecue, grill, steam, deep-fry and stuff with, for example, minced meat or rice. Aubergine can also be used to make a delicious ratatouille, soup or mixed vegetable dish. Aubergine is very tasty in combination with: olive oil, cheese, onions, parsley, basil, potatoes, oregano, beef, lamb, chicken, minced beef, eggs, goat's cheese, red pepper, pork, coconut, garlic, cayenne pepper, pasta and vegetables such as peppers, lettuce, courgettes, tomatoes, peas and leeks. Sow 2 seeds per pot From February onwards, sow 2 seeds per pot ½ cm deep in good sowing soil and cover the seeds with a thin layer of soil. Keep the pots at about 21 - 25 °C. Keep the seeds well moist, warm and light. Once the seedlings are 7½ - 10 cm high, move them to larger pots. Aubergines don't like the cold, so place in a heated greenhouse or heated sunroom. It can also be grown outside in a very warm, sunny and sheltered spot facing south. Usually not so many fruits grow on the plant then. Keep well moist and pest free and give them good support.
To help the development of the fruits, you should water them regularly and add some liquid fertiliser at the same time. Pick the fruits regularly to promote the continued growth of the fruits. Harvest the fruits by cutting them carefully from the plant and in any case before the shine of the skin fades.
