Pumpkin

Pumpkin is a family member of the courgette, gourd and cucumber. They originate from Central- and South America. But you can grow them very easily in our colder climate. Sow early indoors in spring and plant them outdoors when all danger of frost has passed. Give the plants enough space, warmth, shelter, water and fertilizer. You can find pumpkins in many different shapes and sizes. Pumpkins can be cooked, baked, steamed, stewed and used in casseroles. Use them also in soups, stews, vegetarian dishes, cakes, bread, purée and mashed potato stew.
