Spinach Early Giant leaf is an organicaly grown, very productive variety with a high tolerance to cold weather but frost can be damaging. This very fast growing variety has large, very delicious flavoured and tender leaves. Pick the young leaves as salad. Can be deep-frozen. Not suited for sowing in warmer climates or summer sowing because this variety bolts easy. Harvesting can be done about 4 - 6 weeks after sowing.

Sow in the beginning of fall for a winter harvest or sow in early spring under glass for an early summer harvest.
Sow in rows 20 cm apart or broadcast the seeds: use 20-25 seeds per ½ meter. Cover the seeds with 1cm soil. Keep moist and weedfree. Spinach needs a good, rich soil with a lot of nitrogen but it doesn't like an acid soil. Spinach needs moisture and light to grow but be careful with the roots of this variety to much water can cause frozen roots.
Thin the seedlings, when they are large enough to handle, to 2 - 10 cm apart. Harvest the young leaves for salads or harvest the whole plants when they are fully grown. Cut right above the ground and remove the roots later. Protect the seedlings against slugs and snails. Sow regurlarry smal amounts to keep harvesting. Use a rotaging of crops for four years to avoid diseases.
