Strawberry Goosefoot is also known as Strawberry blite and Blite Goosefoot. It's a member of the goosefoot family. The leaves and the fruits of this plant are edible.The plant develops red fruits that look a lot like strawberries, after 3 months.
You can steam, cook or stir-fry the leaves. It's also very nice added to soups, casseroles or sauces. Or use it like Spinach. The flavour of the leaves is similar to the flavour of hazelnuts. The fruits taste a lot like beetroots. Use the fruits in salads, fruitsalads, jam, sauces or as a snack. Non hardy annual.

Sow outdoors on a well prepared seedbed with moist and loosened soil from march on. Sow shallow and thinly and press the seeds gently in the soil. Keep moist and weedfree. Transplant the seedlings, when they're large enough to handle, to a sunny plot with well draining soil. Keep them 25 - 30 cm apart. Strawberry Goosefoot prefers limy soil.
This easy plant needs a lot of room because of it's height. The red fruits appaer after approx. 3 months. The leaves can be harvested approx. 30 days after sowing. You can also grow these plants in large flowerpots.
