Copenhagen Market is an early and reliable cabbage variety. It produces round heads. This variety is very well suited for small gardens because the heads stay relatively small. Use this cabbage raw and finely sliced in salads or in coleslaw or stir-fry or cook this variety.

Sow indoors from march, about 5 - 7 weeks before planting outdoors, in a coldframe or indoors in seperate pots. Sow 1 seed per pot and cover with a tick layer of soil. Keep moist. Germination takes about 10 -15 days, depening on the weather and the temperature. Plant outdoors about 45 cm apart from end of april till may, when there's no longer any danger of nightfrosts.
Sow outdoors, from may on, when there's no longer any danger of nightfrosts. Sow about ¼ - ½ cm deep 2 or 3 seeds per hole, about 45 cm apart. Germination takes about 10 - 15 days, depending on the weather and the temperature. Thin the seedlings, when they're about 3 - 5 cm tall, to 1 strongest per hole.
Protect against birds, snails and slugs and other pests. This cabbage needs a lot of water and fertilizer to grow. But be careful: to much water in a short period can cause the heads to burst and rot. Don't sow and plant any cabbage on a plot were cabbage has grown in previous years. Sow small amounts each time, to prolong harvesting. Harvest the cabbage when the heads are firm. Cut the stem just above the lowest leaves with a knife or remove the whole cabbage with a rake. This cabbage can be deep-frozen to store.
